Chernobyl
Chernobyl Disaster. It was one, if not the biggest, nuclear disaster in the world. It killed around 35 people. The cause of this was the operators in the nuclear power plant. They did not have much experience with Nuclear power physics, and violated MANY safety regulations. In fact, while running a test, they had a main safety feature for the plant off, ultimately causing the huge explosion. But that's enough about the power plant. Around 350,000 people had to evacuate Chernobyl because of the disaster. It's hard to tell how many people will die later on from the radiation exposure. But many pregnant women gave birth to defected children because of it, causing a HUGE amount of money to be spent on health insurance and lawsuits following the disaster. It overall was a terrible day for MANY people, and I can't imagine being there when that happened.
